Musicians usually have a list of the places where they dream of appearing at some point in their careers. Classical musicians might want to have a concert at a place like Carnegie Hall or Royal Albert Hall, while those who are more into rock music will have different venues in mind. You might be surprised to hear that one of them is usually a music festival in Milwaukee, Wisconsin that happens ever summer. Summerfest is actually the largest music festival in the world and is attended by everyone from those living in Ajax houses to Florida homes.

Summerfest is held in Henry Maier Festival Park and is a week and a half long event with eleven stages and more than seven hundred acts performing right along the lakefront. It has been around since the 1960s and usually takes place in the days surrounding the Fourth of July. If you're from the area or are getting here via an airport taxi, Toronto flight than this is certainly something that you will not want to miss. Not only will you have the chance to see some of the world's best bands perform but you can also sample some of the local cuisine, view a comedy act, and stay for the fireworks.

All of the concerts are free once you have paid your admission into the festival and the largest venue is the Marcus Amphitheatre, which seats more than twenty thousand people. You won't find anything this big from tent rental Toronto. Admission is between eight and fifteen dollars depending on the day. Concerts run from noon until midnight daily and there are performances by musicians in a number of different genres. The opening headliners the past few years have been Peter Gabriel, Tim McGraw, Bon Jovi, and Stevie Wonder.

While you might think that festivals like Woodstock were the inspiration for this event, Summerfest actually started the year before this historic music show and was created by the mayor after he visited Munich's Oktoberfest in Germany. He wanted to start something that would be attended by people from downtown Toronto condos all the way to homes in Europe and it seems that vision has since come true. Some acts appearing at this year's event included Meat Loaf, the Flaming Lips, Maroon 5, and Kanye West.

If you're visiting Milwaukee in the wintertime instead of the summer than you're not out of luck when it comes to concerts in the city. Whether you're an art dealer who specializes in Group of Seven art or are a schoolteacher than you are sure to find something at Winterfest. This is an event for the whole family and takes place in December in the city.
